Our Story

How it all started...

First Presbyterian Church of Harrison, Arkansas, was formed in 1870.

Since its beginning, First Presbyterian Church has called three different locations home in Harrison: 111 South Spring Street, 220 North Arbor Drive, and now 915 South Maple.

Over 150 years after its beginning, First Presbyterian Church is alive and well, striving to Be the Church that God is calling the people to be.

Expanding the vision...

We strive to be a church who, as our pastor says, doesn't settle for just talking about it.  We strive to be about it.  The "it" is joining Jesus in the work that He is doing in the world...being His hands and His feet...not just going to church...BEING the CHURCH.

Where we are headed...

We are headed toward Being the Church in whatever capacity that looks like.

  • We strive to be a people who live in response to God's love and grace.
  • We strive to be a people who understand that loving God and others are paramount in everything we do.
  • We strive to be a people who understand the worship, love, and service go hand in hand.
  • We strive to be a people who are doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving ourselves (James 1:22).
